Compliance status
This platform is not compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 AA standard. The non-compliances and exemptions are listed below.
Non-accessible content
The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons.
Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations
As of September 2022, not all pages have been reviewed and therefore are likely to be only partially compliant to WCAG 2.1 success criterion.
We plan to review and resolve these pages listed below as part of rolling accessibility enhancements as detailed further down the statement.
Disproportionate burden
Admin Features
The pages that are within the Organisational Admins control have been assessed and the cost of fixing the issues now would be a disproportionate burden within the meaning of the accessibility regulations. We will make another assessment at the end of 2024.
Mindset Modules
Our Mindset modules are difficult to navigate using a keyboard and understand using a screen reader. For example, because some form controls are missing a ‘label’ tag.
Our Mindset modules are built through third party software.
We’ve assessed the cost of fixing the issues with navigating and understanding Mindset modules. We believe that doing so now would be a disproportionate burden within the meaning of the accessibility regulations. We will make another assessment at the end of 2024.
Content that’s not within the scope of the accessibility regulations
PDFs and other documents
The accessibility regulations do not require us to fix PDFs or other documents published before 23 September 2018 if they’re not essential to providing our services. For example, we do not plan to fix existing workbooks for the Lessons Topics until the Lessons are re-written.
Any new PDFs or Word documents we publish will meet accessibility standards.
What we’re doing to improve accessibility
Our accessibility roadmap below shows how and when we plan to improve accessibility on this platform.
Accessibility roadmap
From September 2022 we have commenced a new approach to accessibility enhancements; breaking the platform into sections (listed below) and addressing multiple accessibility issues identified in one area at a time.
This means that a whole section of the platform can be reviewed against multiple accessibility criteria, rather than addressing one issue across multiple areas of the platform. Therefore, compliance with the accessibility guidelines can be maximised in the priority platform areas first.
To ensure the areas of the platform that are most likely to be used by persons with accessibility needs are addressed first, we are prioritising our most heavily utilised functionality for review.
The list of platform areas will be continued to be worked on until all have been reviewed. Improvements will be released in an agile manner and will be accompanied by release notes. This statement will be revised as the area has been addressed in order to make clear the areas of the platform that have been reviewed in line with the below checklist.
